Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District

Director, Position 2

Wendy Kroger

A Collaborative, Caring Voice for All on the THPRD Board

Occupation: Community Volunteer

Occupational Background: U.S. Department of Labor

Educational Background: University of Oregon, M.A.

Prior Governmental Experience: THPRD Board since 2018, Beaverton Planning Commission, Salem Planning Commission

I love our park system. I’ve spent years volunteering for THPRD in a variety of leadership roles, where I advocated for expanded trails, helped craft the transformative 2008 bond measure, and pushed for splash pads, creative play and other innovative amenities.

A year ago, I was appointed to the THPRD Board. I’m proud of our achievements and the plans we’ve initiated to make our park system even better and even more accessible to more patrons. Now I’m seeking your help to continue this important work.

A vote for me is a vote for someone who has done the homework and who cares deeply about THPRD and its patrons. I’m known for being collaborative and team-oriented but not afraid to speak up or make tough decisions.

My focus is and will continue to be:

  • To connect more people to parks, trails and nature
  • To oversee smart, efficient use of taxpayer funds
  • To expand a mix of programming for all ages and cultures
  • To grow the district’s community partnerships

“We need Wendy on the THPRD Board. Her boundless energy and creative ideas help make THPRD the best park system around.”
Denny Doyle, Beaverton Mayor

Wendy and I worked together on the THPRD Trails Committee for ten years and she was a driving force in uniting METRO, County agencies and Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District to build trails throughout the area.”
